For Kayla: Creighton Gann

Creighton Gann is the artist I was telling you about when we met.  Here is the image I specifically mentioned to you:

This is how Creighton chose to illustrate Christ in Hell.  It is not a literal interpretation.  He could very easily have chosen to give us the very traditional image of Christ (long hair, beard, and all) and surrounded him with flames, demons, whatever.  Instead, look how much this simple, but powerful illustration works.

Click HERE for a slideshow of some of his other work.  Mixed in with the more colorful paintings that you'll see will be more drawings he did at the same time as this one.  The ones from this series are all on large pieces of white paper with charcoal drawings and sometimes little splashes of color.  All of them illustrate biblical or Greek Orthodox traditional stories.  Check them out!
