For Kara: Gary Panter

Gary Panter was one of the founding members of the Lowbrow movement and much of the work done by Lowbrow artist since has been VERY influenced by him.  He was particularly influenced by skater culture imagery, comic books and Saturday morning cartoons from the 60s, and bad B-movies from the 60s and 70s.  These may not be your particular set of lowbrow influences, but look at how he incorporates these things into his work.  Here are a few of his works:






Also, he was hired to design the set (with some help from Rob Zombie!) and some of the puppet characters for Pee Wee's playhouse back in the 1980s.  He got called back again to design the set for the new Pee Wee show on Broadway.
